Conor Harrington

We were visiting friends in New York last week. We stopped in the Standard Hotel in the meat packing district and found this mural by Conor Harrington. Roller paint, brush and spray = fire! It was painted last year to coincide with the Outsiders New York exhibition at Lazarides Gallery.

Yannick Pouliot

Here are a few works from the Québec-based artist Yannick Pouliot. There's not much that I can find floating around—the two shots I found have an accompanying article that's from his Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal exhibit he held last year. Here's a review from The Hour.

Bates

The people of Copenhagen have not to ever worry. They walk amongst one of the most prolific and accomplished artists. His influential work is always perfectly executed—always bettering any surface he claims.

Bates works on his craft since the mid-eighties, constantly gaining respect from within the graffiti community but also from everyone who has had the chance to appreciate his pieces. Take time to visit the wealth of work by Bates. Click here, here and here.

Barbara Kruger

American artist (and celebrated icon) Barbara Kruger was one of the names I wore on a t-shirt in constant rotation for over four years. I've retired it now and thought we'd not let her go too fast. Here's a good sampling of her work from her still active career. Go here to read a good article.

Paul McCarthy

Here are a few works by Los Angeles-based artist Paul McCarthy. I've been wanting to post about his work and as no coincidence, doing it today, the timing couldn't be better. Sometimes you have to go further than yourself and your thoughts to get a greater perspective on what you're doing. More on that later, but for now, let's focus on this Master and his work. Find more on McCarthy here and here.
